Should we add public-use bike stations in public parks to help reduce emissions?

← Return to the Emissions Reduction Hub

The City is considering adding Mobi stations to public parks in an effort to reduce emissions.

What is a bike share?

Bike share is a service that makes public bicycles available for shared use to individuals on a short-term basis. The bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any station in the system, making bike share ideal for short, one-way trips.

How does it work?

Through the rental revenue, the bikes could be placed in parks at no cost to citizens. Please discuss below whether or not you would like to see a bike share program in our public parks.

We have an issue with vandalism in our public parks. I don't want to see the bikes implemented only to have them vandalized. It would be an eyesore.

Personally, I don't think it would be that big of an issue and I think that the benefits of more public-transit would outweigh the possibility of it being a bit of an eyesore in the park.

I've used public-use bikes in other cities and loved it! I think it's especially great for tourists who are in the city and looking for a way to get around.

I think this is a great idea... as long as the bikes come with helmets!
